Teaching individuals with disabilities to dive is something that’s been a part of A-1’s history for well over three decades. Today marks another piece of that puzzle. Today at the Downtown Aquarium HSA (Handicapped Scuba Association) Instructors and “dive buddy’s” are learning the final phase of their training to become proficient in assisting those facing daily challenges to scuba dive. In this program, the able body students spend the 3 day training confined to a wheelchair and learning the daily challenges that those with disabilities face. They set up their dive gear from a chair and do just about everything else from one for the 3 day course.
